Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Mechanical Estimation or Costing Engineer to join our Engineering department at Jigani, Bangalore. Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Technical Head, the role involves creating detailed techno-commercial quotations and conducting accurate cost analysis for plant and equipment projects. The candidate will be part of projects primarily in industrial automation and process industries, including international projects, sales activities, and after-sales support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive techno-commercial quotations for plant and equipment projects from start to finish.
- Ensure precise cost estimations and deliver quotations free from errors within set deadlines.
- Evaluate flow diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering inputs to perform cost assessments.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to refine project costs.
- Select appropriate components from global manufacturing hubs to optimize cost and quality.
- Conduct detailed costing for third-party supplied items like steel hoppers, ducting, and structural supports.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain Management team to estimate costs of procured materials.
- Coordinate with the Automation team for estimating costs related to electrical materials and services.
- Include applicable taxes, duties, logistics, and country-specific cost elements in estimations.
- Support proposal improvements by balancing cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
- Possession of additional qualifications in Estimations and AutoCAD layout drawings is advantageous.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in estimation or costing within industrial automation or similar sectors.
- Demonstrable expertise in detailed cost estimation for large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, Incoterms, and international commercial practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including P&IDs and flow diagrams.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and various cost estimation tools.
- Preferred knowledge of AutoCAD layout drawings and additional certifications or training in estimation/costing.
