About the Company and Role

Anord Mardix, part of Flex, is a global leader providing critical power infrastructure solutions for various industries including financial institutions and data centers. Flex plans to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new independent public company anticipated in Q1 2027, referred to as SpinCo, specializing in power and thermal solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications. This Mechanical Design Engineer position is based in Dundalk, Ireland, and will support this growth and transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop 3D mechanical models of switchboards and associated products suitable for manufacturing and fabrication.
• Ensure engineering drawings provided to production are accurate, controlled, and easily interpretable.
• Support Production and Testing teams to troubleshoot issues with both new and existing designs.
• Assist Shop Floor and Client Site operations, including Client Witness Testing when necessary.
• Report to the Head of Engineering and collaborate closely with Project Managers and Mechanical Design Managers to enhance the library of standard drawings.
• Occasionally visit client sites to conduct surveys.

Candidate Requirements

• Prior experience in mechanical design for electrical equipment such as power distribution units, packaged substations, or switchgear is preferred, alongside good understanding of electrical systems.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized third-level institution.
• Proven experience in mechanical design within a commercial setting.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
• Experience with sheet metal design is advantageous.
• Ability to read electrical schematics is beneficial.
• Strong ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and adapt to working independently.
• Excellent numeracy, literacy, accuracy, and attention to detail skills.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
• Fluent in English and eligible to work in Ireland (EU citizens preferred).
