Role Overview

The M&E Estimator will play a pivotal role in supporting project acquisition by preparing detailed cost estimates and tender documentation for mechanical and electrical works, helping drive competitive and cost-effective bid submissions while gaining exposure to tender strategy, bid management, and pre-construction processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for M&E works.
  • Issue inquiries to subcontractors and suppliers with accompanying contract paperwork.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids and assist with procurement of M&E project packages.
  • Collaborate with engineering design teams to create competitive tender solutions.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation critically.
  • Conduct value engineering to identify optimization opportunities or alternatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive material take-offs and cost estimates for mechanical and electrical components.
  • Assess and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to select suitable technical and commercial options.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting high-quality technical tender documentation.
  • Review contractual conditions and analyze commercial and contractual impacts of any amendments.
  • Participate in tender evaluation, pricing reviews, and post-tender negotiation processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in M&E Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven practical experience in estimating and cost planning for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of M&E equipment commonly utilized in the water industry.
  • Self-driven with the capacity to work autonomously while effectively coordinating with internal teams and external parties.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word; familiarity with estimating software is an advantage.
  • Possession of a full, clean Irish or EU driving license.
  • Authorization to work in Ireland or eligibility to obtain necessary permits.
