Material Controller

About the Role

Join BAE Systems at Osborne Shipyard SA and become an integral part of a team ensuring materials flow smoothly throughout the Shipyard Production environment. As a Material Controller within an Integrated Work Team, you will provide customer-focused inventory management, supporting safe, timely, and cost-effective handling of materials between the Warehouse and Shipyard to meet operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate material availability to align with production schedules and shipyard activities.
• Oversee inventory levels and manage material transfers between warehouse and production zones.
• Analyze material requirements and shortage reports, identifying and escalating potential risks proactively.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and generate reports using ERP systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to optimize material control and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and company protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain challenges and ensure material availability.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend call-out rotations when required.

Candidate Profile

• Experience as a Material Controller, Production Liaison, or comparable role within supply chain, manufacturing, shipbuilding, or heavy industry.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work effectively with Supply Chain, Production, Warehousing, and other departments.
• A proactive approach to identifying, investigating, and solving material and supply chain issues to prevent production delays.
• Ability to interpret and deliver precise operational reports and insights for inventory management and business performance.
• A mindset focused on continuous improvement to enhance material flow and operational processes.
• Dedication to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Australian citizenship is required as this role requires a Defence security clearance; applicants must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the necessary clearance.
• Compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may affect eligibility based on nationality.
