About the Role

Join Nestlé South Africa as a Maintenance Specialist at our Estcourt Factory. Alongside working with leading brands like Nescafé and Milo, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and repairing manufacturing and packaging equipment to ensure smooth production and performance targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols including OHSACT compliance, Work Permits, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and other company safety standards.
  • Operate machinery safely by adjusting devices within permitted tolerances and maintain a hazardous-free working environment in the factory.
  • Coordinate and lead planned maintenance activities for factory equipment, services, and building infrastructure.
  • Oversee daily maintenance operations, including tracking, reporting, and escalation of issues.
  • Lead hands-on installation, servicing, and repair of equipment, ensuring repairs are done correctly the first time.
  • Identify skills gaps among maintenance staff and provide coaching to enhance team performance.
  • Maintain machine reliability to support production goals and carry out related administrative duties associated with maintenance, problem solving, TPM, and safety.
  • Participate actively in TPM initiatives and lead resolution efforts for instrumentation, automation, electrical, and mechanical faults.
  • Lead fault diagnosis and repair for equipment breakdowns when necessary.
  • Manage maintenance shutdowns and revise maintenance schedules and checklists to sustain equipment reliability.
  • Ensure completion of administrative tasks linked to asset management, safety, and maintenance audit requirements.
  • Handle spare parts management effectively.
  • Use root cause analysis tools like Loss Tree Analysis to resolve recurring faults and document problem-solving outcomes.
  • Drive improvements in asset performance by applying maintenance strategy tools and analyzing operational losses.
  • Procure quotations and recommendations from OEMs and expert vendors and manage purchase requisitions to support maintenance operations.
  • Develop technicians' competence to autonomously manage maintenance and lead improvements.
  • Coach and train operators on routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to foster operational independence.
  • Promote continuous improvement by collaborating with production teams and sharing best practices across lines.
  • Utilize digital tools such as AMM Mobile and predictive maintenance analytics to enhance maintenance efficiency.
  • Own personal development planning and aid new team members through mentorship and feedback.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum N6 Certificate or a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Completion of an Apprenticeship and possession of a Trade Test Certificate.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, and AMM software.
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Comprehensive understanding of maintenance best practices.
  • Supportive attitude with the ability to drive and manage change effectively.
  • Team-oriented approach with capability to coach and collaborate.
