Job Overview

In the role of Local Area Coordinator, you will support individuals with disability, their families, and carers to empower them to live fulfilling lives by exercising choice and control. You will engage with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and its Partners in Community network within Kingaroy and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help people with permanent and significant disabilities to apply for NDIS support.
  • Work collaboratively with participants to establish and develop their goals.
  • Facilitate connections between people with disabilities and local community support services.
  • Assist participants in navigating and maximizing their involvement with the NDIS.
  • Enhance community understanding of the NDIS and foster opportunities for participants to access services and supports.
  • Achieve predetermined contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Candidate Profile and Requirements

You are personable, upbeat, passionate, and respectful, able to build and maintain relationships with confidence. Driven by empathy and compassion, you comprehend diverse personal needs within your community. You can guide, advise, and connect individuals to identify and reach desirable outcomes.

  • Proven relevant work experience and/or lived experience related to disability support.
  • Experience in collaborative planning to achieve shared goals.
  • Familiarity with the local community and available social and economic participation options for people with disabilities.
  • Competent in computer use, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Ability to obtain or possession of Working with Children and/or Vulnerable People Check.
  • Current driver's license and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
