About the Role
Chevron is inviting applications for the position of LNG Physical Trader, based in Duo Tower, Singapore. This role is a vital part of the Global LNG team, which manages physical and financial LNG portfolios worldwide across various basins, including the Pacific and Atlantic. The LNG Physical Trader will focus on trading LNG cargoes sourced from Chevron's Upstream operations and third-party volumes, particularly targeting markets in the Pacific basin, Middle East, JKTC, and Southeast Asia. The trader works closely with cross-functional global teams and external partners to optimize value from Chevron’s gas production and logistic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade and manage physical LNG cargoes within specified regions and collaborate globally to optimize supply and arbitrage opportunities.
- Utilize deep knowledge of LNG market fundamentals, such as commodity characteristics, global trade flows, pricing, freight, risk management, and supply chain economics to develop profitable trading and hedging strategies.
- Contribute to creating a consolidated global outlook on LNG supply and demand to inform both physical and financial trading decisions.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to support LNG growth initiatives and reinforce Chevron’s presence in the global LNG market.
- Manage price risk exposure associated with Chevron’s global physical LNG portfolio.
- Work as the subject matter expert on physical LNG markets in support of LNG Financial Traders and partner with Origination teams to assess medium- and long-term commercial deals.
- Ensure all desk activities comply with Chevron's policies, controls, and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- At least 2 years of direct trading experience in the LNG market, specifically within the Pacific Basin.
- Proven expertise in LNG contract negotiations.
- A degree in disciplines such as Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or Marketing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in digital tools and technologies, including advanced Excel, VBA, and PowerPoint, to analyze risks and support trading strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for clearly presenting strategies and ideas in both written and verbal formats.
- A proactive and collaborative team player comfortable in a fast-moving environment with responsibility for sustainable results.
