Role Overview
This full-time role requires the Licensed Customs Broker to be based onsite in Sydney, NSW. Responsibilities include preparing and submitting customs declarations, managing tariff classifications, and ensuring precise duty and tax calculations following Australian and international regulations. Daily duties involve reviewing import/export papers, interacting with customs authorities and regulatory agencies, addressing clearance issues promptly, and working closely with internal freight forwarding and operations teams to ensure shipment coordination and compliance oversight. The broker also advises clients on customs matters, stays informed on regulatory changes, and contributes to process improvements thought to boost customs compliance and service standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- In-depth knowledge of customs brokerage, including tariff classification, duty assessment, and compliance requirements.
- Proficient understanding of import procedures, documentation, and Australian border and quarantine protocols.
- Familiarity with export processes, including drafting export declarations and following international regulations.
- Comprehensive understanding of global trade practices, trade agreements, and customs rules.
- Strong customer service abilities with effective communication and client engagement skills.
- Valid customs broker license or equivalent accreditation recognized in Australia.
- Experience with customs and freight management software and meticulous attention to detail in handling data and documents.
- Ability to operate onsite in Sydney, manage competing priorities, and adhere to stringent deadlines.
- Preferred educational background includes tertiary credentials in logistics, international trade, supply chain, or related disciplines.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities and effective collaboration with operations, freight forwarding, and compliance teams.
