Job description

Overview

This permanent role as Lead Hand Custodian involves supervising custodial operations within the facility. The workweek consists of 40 hours, divided into 8-hour shifts scheduled as required. The selected individual will provide leadership in managing custodial teams while maintaining communication with various stakeholders including supervisors and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and organize a custodial work crew, scheduling their duties efficiently.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors, colleagues, students, staff, and public visitors.
  • Complete requisitions and related documentation using software such as Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
  • Operate Facility Services building systems and Maintenance Order Systems, with computer literacy considered an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least two years of experience as a custodian or a similar role.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership qualities and excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and cooperation abilities internally and externally.
  • Self-driven and motivated with an ability to manage workflows independently.

Selection Process

Candidates will be required to undergo testing as part of the selection procedure.

  • This position is part of the CUPE Local 1310 bargaining unit and subject to the CUPE Collective Agreement terms, including union dues.
  • Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent hires, even for current pension recipients.
