Key Responsibilities

• Direct the planning, design, and execution of drainage and stormwater management systems for civil infrastructure and development projects.
• Serve as the lead liaison for the drainage discipline, potentially substituting for the design manager depending on project needs.
• Oversee hydraulic and hydrological modeling tasks, including flood risk evaluations and drainage impact analyses.
• Provide technical leadership, ensuring adherence to industry design standards, codes, and best practices.
• Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and technical reports prepared by junior staff.
• Implement water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) approaches.
• Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to obtain approvals and resolve issues.
• Prepare technical input for bids and estimate effort for drainage-related work proposals.
• Manage overall project schedules, budgets, and resources for timely and effective completion.
• Mentor team members to enhance technical skills and foster professional development.
• Keep current with new drainage technologies, modeling software, and regulatory standards to improve project quality.
• Design complex hydraulic systems tailored to specific site requirements.
• Apply technological innovations and value engineering methodologies.
• Conduct hydrologic modeling, calculation, design review, reporting, and supervision activities.
• Collaborate closely with CAD, BIM, and 3-D modeling teams throughout projects.

Required Qualifications and Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Hydrology, or Water Engineering; a Master's degree in Water Engineering or Hydrology is advantageous.
• A minimum of 20 years of experience in water engineering, focusing on stormwater drainage design for civil and transport projects and stormwater management planning.
• Comprehensive knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics principles.
• Proficient with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling/design tools such as SWMM, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and CAD software.
• Mandatory experience with InfoWorks ICM, including 1D/2D modeling capabilities.
• Strong proficiency in GIS and CAD platforms including ArcMap, QGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Experience preparing bid estimates and technical submissions for mid-sized projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication coupled with outstanding organization skills.
• A collaborative team-oriented mindset.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, or significant progress toward qualification.
• Preferably registered as MME Engineer or able to achieve this within six months. Experience working in Qatar and the Middle East is considered an advantage.
