Job description

Position Overview

The Laundry Assistant is responsible for daily laundry operations, ensuring the prompt and compliant handling of patients' laundry needs in line with legal, regulatory, and Life Care Centers of America standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of high school or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare settings is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently make decisions when necessary based on situational judgement.
  • Possess thorough understanding of procedures, practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to post-acute care facilities.
  • Implement and interpret departmental policies, goals, and protocols effectively.
  • Demonstrate proficiency across competency areas such as patient rights, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain professional interactions with colleagues, vendors, and others involved in the work process.
  • Protect confidential and proprietary information rigorously.
  • Adhere to company policies including those related to harassment prevention and compliance.
  • Conduct oneself with integrity and professionalism following Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete required compliance training.
  • Carry out laundry tasks including collecting, sorting, ironing, folding, stacking, hanging, and distributing linens and garments.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a positive demeanor toward patients.
  • Support patient evacuation efforts as needed.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Apply reasoning skills and judgement effectively throughout work assignments.
  • Communicate well and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Physically capable of sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during the workday.
  • Capable of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English sufficiently to perform the job.
