About the Employer
The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest councils in New South Wales, serving a culturally, socially, and economically diverse population of over 380,000 residents. The council provides key services including childcare, waste collection, parks upkeep, libraries, community facilities, and aquatic centres.
Role Overview
This is a rewarding permanent full-time position within a team responsible for road construction, maintenance, and upkeep of footpaths and kerbs.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform labouring tasks related to road construction and maintenance
- Engage in footpath, kerb, and gutter construction and upkeep activities
- Assist with drainage system construction and repairs
- Operate basic construction plant and machinery safely
- Remove rubbish and debris from work sites
- Apply industry best practices to optimize productivity
- Accurately maintain records of work tasks as directed by supervisors
- Participate in on-the-job training and other duties assigned by supervisors
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s Licence
- Current White Card for Work Health and Safety (WHS)
- Proven experience in construction or concrete work
- Practical background in laying concrete
- Familiarity with general civil construction and roadworks processes
Compensation and Benefits
The salary begins at $58,761 (Grade A, Step 1) plus annual wage adjustments and a 12% superannuation contribution. Salary is open to negotiation depending on skills and experience.
