Job Overview

This role involves supporting kitchen operations primarily from Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with potential adjustments based on business demands. The Kitchen Porter position ensures adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards while assisting with food receipt, storage, cleaning, and service support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming food deliveries to guarantee top-quality produce is accepted.
  • Maintain compliance with all food hygiene regulations, especially H.A.C.C.P guidelines.
  • Report any quality discrepancies promptly to the Head Chef or Catering Manager.
  • Ensure proper food storage following hygiene standards and utilize the F.I.F.O stock rotation system.
  • Perform cleaning duties related to food preparation areas, equipment, and furniture.
  • Complete cleaning schedules punctually with appropriate documentation.
  • Assist in setting up and supporting service points and food/beverage service adhering to company standards.
  • Correctly store food and equipment following service hours.
  • Monitor and log temperatures of food and equipment regularly.
  • Maintain daily records of food waste.
  • Participate in internal training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Uphold personal hygiene, appropriate appearance, and uniform standards as mandated.
  • Foster a professional image conducive to excellent customer relations at all times.
  • Support and enforce company health and safety policies.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Comply with C.O.S.H.H regulations, use necessary personal protective equipment, and observe manual handling safety when managing heavy objects.
  • Remain vigilant to kitchen and workplace hazards and report concerns immediately to management.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by management to ensure smooth department operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Flexible in work approach with the ability to work independently.
  • Sound knowledge of Food Hygiene practices including HACCP compliance.
  • Good proficiency in English language for effective communication.
