Position Overview
The Junior Quantity Surveyor will be instrumental in executing high-end interior projects for luxury hospitality, retail, and commercial spaces. This role involves collaborating with commercial teams, project managers, subcontractors, and site staff to ensure precise cost control, documentation accuracy, and effective reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Create project start-up documentation and manage insurance paperwork.
- Assist in preparing insurance claims relating to delays, losses, and expenses.
- Support the preparation of delay and disruption claims covering time and costs.
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and quantity take-offs by reviewing drawings.
- Monitor site progress and contribute to payment application preparations.
- Maintain and validate site asset registers.
- Assist with monthly progress documentation and client applications.
- Evaluate subcontractor payment submissions and related documentation.
- Help prepare payments and handle contra charges.
- Contribute to monthly financial cost reporting and maintain related documentation.
- Encourage effective communication within the commercial team to ensure smooth workflows.
- Represent ALEC’s professional values consistently.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Up to 1 year in a quantity surveying role within construction.
- Knowledge: Understanding of project cost control, quantity measurement, and delay/claim management processes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, Commercial Cost Systems (CCS), financial reporting, and data analysis.
- Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent; professional accreditation preferred.
- Attributes: Strong communication and coordination abilities, keen attention to detail, analytical mindset, and dedication to quality and continuous professional improvement.
