About the Role
Aliaxis APAC is looking for a meticulous and well-organized Inventory Controller to join the Christchurch team. This key role involves maintaining precise inventory records and facilitating smooth stock flow within a busy warehouse environment. The Inventory Controller will report directly to the Site Manager and will be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, overseeing stock movements, cycle counts, reconciliations, investigating variances, reporting, and updating inventory registrations within the BPCS system.
This hands-on position blends office and warehouse duties, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with warehouse, procurement, planning, and operational teams. This role suits someone experienced in inventory control who values ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement, with ambitions to develop leadership skills in a global company.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately complete all inventory transactions promptly, ensuring high stock integrity.
- Lead scheduled cycle counts, stock audits, and reconciliations according to company policies.
- Maintain accurate racking location data in BPCS, updating labels, barcodes, stock records, and physical locations.
- Supervise goods receipt and put-away processes; monitor DRP transactions and inter-company stock movements, ensuring timely and correct updates in the system.
- Investigate discrepancies and anomalies in stock records, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse, procurement, and planning teams to resolve stock-related issues, maintain optimum stock levels, and prevent stockouts or surpluses.
- Ensure inventory transactions are correctly recorded, reconciled, and traceable; spearhead system and procedural improvements to enhance accuracy.
- Prepare inventory accuracy reports, variance analyses, and recommend improvements.
- Lead investigations into recurring inventory problems and participate in continuous improvement projects to optimize inventory control and warehouse efficiency.
- Support warehouse operations during peak periods or staff shortages by performing operational tasks as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management, ideally within manufacturing, construction, or plumbing product distribution sectors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with ERP inventory systems such as BPCS and Nexus is highly valued.
- Possession of current Counterbalance Forklift and Reach Truck licenses is mandatory.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Highly organized, analytical, and detail-focused, committed to data integrity and inventory accuracy.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes, stock replenishment, forecasting, and demand planning.
- Proven ability to analyze discrepancies, determine root causes, and apply effective corrective actions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Collaborative team player with leadership skills to foster positive cross-departmental relationships.
