About the Role
This remote, full-time position is part of the development team for the game Abiotic Factor, focusing on quality assurance across PC-based gaming platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Detect, log, and communicate bugs, exploits, accessibility issues, and quality-of-life concerns.
- Validate the performance of newly added game features through thorough testing.
- Confirm the success of fixes applied to previously reported bugs.
- Reassess existing documented issues to verify their current status.
- Analyze problems to determine reproducible steps for errors.
- Conduct regression testing on game features to ensure stability.
- Highlight and report urgent and critical software issues.
- Carry out Build Verification Tests (BVT) and update related documentation to reflect new developments or modifications.
- Manage and prioritize issues identified during internal staff and playtest sessions.
- Support various QA maintenance tasks and projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with the QA Team Lead to enhance testing workflows and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least two years of direct QA experience in PC gaming environments.
- A strong passion for quality assurance, with a dedicated approach to the role.
- Availability to work within New Zealand's time zone.
- Access to a secondary PC setup suitable for client testing.
- Well-honed analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to various tasks as needs evolve.
- Meticulous attention to detail while managing time efficiently.
- Good interpersonal skills, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
- Familiarity with bug tracking tools, documentation standards, and different testing methods.
- Patience and endurance to handle repetitive testing activities.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience with console gaming QA (e.g., PS5, Xbox Series S/X).
- Knowledge of crossplay functionality testing.
- Experience assessing console user-generated content and modding support.

- Annual salary ranging from 65000 to 75000 NZD, based on experience.
