About the Company and Role

A company specialising in high voltage electrical systems up to 33kV is seeking an experienced HV Engineer to join their expanding and supportive team based in Milton Keynes, England. Renowned for their expertise in installation, commissioning, fault diagnosis, testing and maintenance of HV equipment including transformers and switchgear, this organisation is recognised for providing excellent training and development opportunities whilst fostering a great workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of electrical equipment across LV, 11kV, and 33kV installations, including protection relays, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues on both low voltage and high voltage equipment, managing emergency call-outs efficiently.
  • Interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings accurately.
  • Conducting isolations and performing Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) responsibilities where qualified.
  • Issuing and approving Permits to Work to ensure safe operations of HV systems.
  • Carrying out detailed site surveys.
  • Executing testing, commissioning, and routine maintenance tasks on high voltage assets.
  • Adhering strictly to health and safety legislation in performing all duties.
  • Acting as the company’s representative during on-site activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Practical experience and knowledge working with high voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in using HV testing tools and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and isolation procedures.
  • Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering such as an HNC.
  • Possession of a valid driving license.
  • Willingness to undertake travel, primarily within an 80-mile radius, but occasionally further, with possible overnight stays.
  • Good problem-solving abilities combined with effective communication skills.
