Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HR Lead based in Niamey, Niger, with thorough knowledge of Niger's labor laws and human resource policies to lead our HR team and guide the implementation of Wave’s People strategy locally. This permanent role involves strategic planning, policy development, compliance monitoring, and fostering a progressive organizational culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic HR plans to meet organizational goals.
- Advise senior leadership on all HR aspects including payroll, learning and development, labor law compliance, policy formulation, and workforce planning.
- Collaborate with management, trade unions, and partners to design effective employment policies.
- Lead, mentor, and enhance the HR team's capabilities and professional standards.
- Continuously evaluate and improve employee programs, benefits, and packages.
- Ensure compliance with labor regulations, professional standards, and internal policies.
- Manage succession planning initiatives.
- Drive ongoing improvements focusing on engagement, welfare, productivity, decentralized HR responsibilities, and leadership development.
- Optimize organizational structure to support future expansion.
- Lead performance review processes to promote continuous employee development.
- Strengthen organizational culture by embedding company values and promoting inspirational leadership.
- Implement diversity, equality, and inclusion strategies aligned with business values and goals.
- Oversee employee training and development programs ensuring consistent quality.
- Coach senior colleagues on strengths and development opportunities.
- Maintain strong collaboration with senior management, executives, and union representatives ensuring inclusive decision-making.
- Oversee HR business unit operations including resource allocation, budgeting, policy, and staffing issues.
- Manage accurate employee records, including salary, benefits, hires, promotions, transfers, reviews, and terminations.
- Oversee office management in Niger, including facilities, fleet, and travel arrangements.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or professional qualification in business administration, HR, or related fields.
- Fluency in French and English.
- Familiarity with HR Information Systems (HRIS).
- Comprehensive understanding of Niger labor laws and HR best practices.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar HR leadership role, preferably within an international organization.
- Experience in managing change in dynamic environments is advantageous.
