Role Overview
The HCC EMEA Regional Lead will direct and manage the healthcare compliance strategy and operations throughout the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region for DePuy Synthes. This leadership role involves supervising compliance programs, serving as Compliance Officer for local markets, and partnering closely with various departments to ensure ethical business practices across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer and implement the EMEA healthcare compliance strategy aligned with DePuy Synthes global directives.
- Advise senior regional leadership on compliance risks and mitigation approaches.
- Manage compliance programs related to commercial, medical, and customer engagement activities across EMEA.
- Collaborate with Legal, Medical Affairs, Quality, Finance, and other teams to evaluate and control compliance risks.
- Oversee issue resolution and remediation efforts with Legal and Ethics & Compliance teams.
- Ensure robust monitoring, audit, and reporting systems to promote continual risk reduction.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a regional team of compliance professionals fostering integrity and accountability.
- Embed compliance within business transformation efforts and new market strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law, business, healthcare, life sciences, or a related discipline; advanced degrees or legal certifications are a plus.
- At least 10–12 years of experience in healthcare compliance, legal, regulatory, or risk management roles, preferably in life sciences or MedTech.
- Proven leadership of healthcare compliance across multiple countries or regions.
- In-depth knowledge of EMEA healthcare regulations and industry codes such as EFPIA and MedTech Europe.
- Strong capability to influence decision-making in complex, matrixed organizations and lead high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Preferred experience includes Orthopedics/MedTech commercial sectors, prior global compliance leadership, working in Switzerland, Germany or broader EMEA markets, and involvement in business transformation or divestitures.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German or other European languages is advantageous.
- Travel up to 25–30% within the EMEA region is expected.
- Valid driver’s license where applicable.
Additional Information
Johnson & Johnson is in the process of separating its Orthopedics business to form DePuy Synthes, expected to complete within 18–24 months pending regulatory and employee consultation processes. Post-separation, the employee will become part of DePuy Synthes with employment conditions governed accordingly.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected base salary range for this position is €104,000 to €179,515 annually. Additional benefits include annual bonuses or sales commissions depending on performance and location, vacation and parental leaves, bereavement and caregiver leaves, volunteer leave, wellness reimbursements, financial and health support programs, service awards, and access to insurance plans for employees and eligible dependents.
