Position Overview

The Group General Manager serves as the key leader responsible for the end-to-end management of the hotel’s operations on site in Accra. This role encompasses leadership of departmental managers and oversight of all daily front-end and back-end operations to maintain outstanding service quality at every guest interaction. The manager is accountable for driving revenue growth, managing budgets, controlling expenses, and ensuring compliance with both Best Western brand standards and local laws. Strategic planning, staff recruitment and development, performance management, and cultivating a positive organizational culture focused on guest service and operational success are core aspects of this position. Collaboration with ownership, suppliers, and key stakeholders is essential to enhance the hotel’s market performance and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise departmental leaders across front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance to maintain high service standards.
  • Oversee hotel operations daily, ensuring seamless guest experiences and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with business goals to increase revenue and market positioning.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cost control measures to optimize financial performance.
  • Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and compliance with local regulations.
  • Recruit, coach, and evaluate staff performance to build a motivated and skilled team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with ownership, vendors, and stakeholders for smooth operations and growth.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven leadership capabilities including team development, coaching, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Expertise in managing hotel operations such as front desk, housekeeping, F&B, and maintenance departments.
  • Strong financial insight with experience in budgeting, revenue management, and expense control.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder relationship skills to professionally represent the hotel.
  • Customer service excellence focused on quality, responsiveness, and resolving guest concerns.
  • Strategic organizational abilities, capable of setting priorities, implementing plans, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry practices, brand standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related discipline; advanced degrees or hospitality certifications are advantageous.
  • Extensive senior management experience in hotels, ideally within branded or international properties.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software systems, booking platforms, and standard office applications.
