About the Role
Mondiale VGL is an established global transport and logistics company operating across 19 markets with operations rooted in Oceania. For over four decades, this company has facilitated connections of people and freight across diverse regions including New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, and the USA. Their comprehensive logistics services cover sea and air freight, import/export, customs clearance, wharf transport, and warehousing.
In this pivotal position as Group Financial Controller, you will take end-to-end ownership of financial consolidation, governance, compliance, and reporting across a complex multinational group. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will orchestrate group financial reporting across around 30 entities and collaborate closely with regional finance divisions and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the monthly consolidation and group-wide reporting covering multiple geographic regions.
- Prepare consolidated financial results and reports for governance stakeholders including the Board and shareholders.
- Critically review and challenge monthly close procedures in partnership with global finance teams.
- Compile and coordinate financial statements incorporating IFRS and consolidation adjustments.
- Drive compliance with current accounting standards and update policies and reporting frameworks accordingly.
- Participate actively in the annual budgeting process and lead audit and statutory year-end reporting activities.
- Contribute to group finance initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, systems enhancements, and other integration projects.
- Provide leadership, development, and mentorship to members of the group financial reporting team.
Candidate Profile and Experience
- Demonstrated expertise as a finance leader in global, dynamic environments.
- A minimum of 6 to 10 years’ professional experience within finance functions, specifically with group consolidation exposure.
- Qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), or an equivalent certification is essential.
- Strong technical skills and working knowledge of IFRS financial reporting standards and group consolidation principles.
- Proven success managing complex month-end and year-end reporting cycles.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities to influence senior executives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and robust experience with finance information systems.
- A commercially minded, analytical thinker who embraces continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
- Previous experience within Big Four firms is advantageous, enhancing auditing and compliance expertise.
