Groundworker

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Groundworker with proven expertise in drainage to contribute to an active civil engineering project in Tidworth. This role demands prior experience in construction or civil engineering environments and a strong grasp of drainage and groundworks tasks.

Key Duties

• Perform drainage and groundwork tasks adhering to project specifications.
• Install and connect various drainage pipes, underground drainage, and related systems.
• Lay pipes, manholes, inspection chambers, and associated drainage infrastructure.
• Execute backfilling, soil compaction, and site reinstatement operations.
• Install ducting and other subterranean services when necessary.
• Operate small hand tools and groundworking machinery safely and effectively.
• Support in concreting, kerbing, foundation work, and general groundwork duties.
• Maintain safety standards when working near excavations and buried services.
• Follow site plans, risk assessments, method statements, and directions from supervisors.
• Keep the worksite clean and hazard-free.
• Collaborate within the broader civil engineering and groundworks team.
• Undertake any additional groundwork tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Valid CSCS card as proof of competency.
• Experience as a Groundworker, especially with drainage and civil engineering projects.
• Proficient understanding of drainage systems and underground installation processes.
• Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Skilled in pipe-laying, manhole and chamber installation, and trench work.
• Competent in using leveling instruments and working accurately to required gradients and falls.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety practices on construction sites.
• Dependable, diligent, and cooperative team player.
• Prior work on construction or civil engineering projects is essential.
