Graduate Test Engineer

Overview

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to conduct hands-on testing and refinement of advanced GNSS, IMU, and automated guidance systems that improve the safety, speed, and intelligence of heavy machinery operations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on testing of system components, software, and APIs on heavy machinery products during development phases.
• Serve as the customer's advocate by translating practical earthmoving needs into clear, user-focused test specifications.
• Create, run, and maintain both automated and manual test plans to enhance product quality while reducing manual efforts.
• Investigate, replicate, and troubleshoot complex technical issues raised from the field in partnership with engineering teams.
• Manage and update testing environments including software, firmware, and specialized hardware related to civil construction technologies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or background in Mechatronics Engineering, Software Testing, or closely related technical fields.
• Up to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in software testing, robotics, positioning technology, or navigation sensor development.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle processes and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent proactive communication skills to effectively convey technical details and collaborate across diverse teams.
• Capability to physically operate surveying and testing equipment in active heavy construction environments.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience working in safety-sensitive settings is advantageous.

Additional Information

• Position based in Christchurch, New Zealand, requiring onsite presence and field testing.
• Travel expectations approximately 10% of the time.
