Role Summary
The Global Director of Asset Maintenance position holds responsibility for shaping and executing Hatch's worldwide asset maintenance strategy. This leadership role involves setting the technical standards, governance, service offerings, methodologies, and delivery capabilities that assist clients transitioning assets from capital project phases into full operational performance.
The role emphasizes establishing and reinforcing maintenance as a key component in project delivery, ensuring maintenance systems, workforce capabilities, spare parts, and asset data support safe and reliable startup operations. Asset Maintenance services may be integrated into Operational Readiness programs or delivered as discrete project engagements focused on greenfield and brownfield developments.
Operational Structure
Hatch operates globally in seven major regions: Eastern Canada, Western Canada, United States, South America, Africa/India/Middle East, Europe, and Australia/Asia, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation with a flat organizational structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and implementation of global asset maintenance strategies across all markets and regions.
- Define and grow asset maintenance service offerings, methodologies, and frameworks aligned with global standards.
- Promote asset maintenance internally and externally through thought leadership and cross-discipline integration.
- Develop and enforce global standards for maintenance best practices, aligned with ISO 55000, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, Risk-Based Maintenance, and SMRP standards.
- Integrate asset maintenance services within Operational Readiness methodologies, ensuring inclusion throughout project lifecycles.
- Offer expert governance and support for major projects, conducting readiness assessments and risk evaluations.
- Collaborate with digital teams to enhance maintenance-related digital solutions, including CMMS, EAM, and asset performance management tools.
- Drive business growth through strategic planning, workforce development, market expansion, and client relationship management.
- Mentor asset maintenance professionals, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Hatch globally at industry events and with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader.
- Support recruitment, succession planning, and optimal global resource allocation within the asset maintenance practice.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 20 years in Asset Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related areas.
- Proven leadership in developing and expanding technical consulting or professional service offerings in maintenance and reliability improvement.
- Experience supporting both greenfield and brownfield capital projects.
- Expertise in asset management, maintenance management systems, reliability engineering, maintenance readiness, strategy development, work management, and planning & scheduling.
- Familiarity with RAM analysis and reliability engineering principles applied to project and operational contexts.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance execution processes, facility planning, shutdown/turnaround planning, spare parts management, and data governance.
- Proven client engagement and business development skills.
- Deep sector experience, particularly in metals and allied industries.
Additional Information
- Regular travel will be necessary to meet teams and clients, including remote project sites, which may involve fly-in/fly-out assignments.
