About the Role
We are looking for a proficient GIS Developer to join Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) in Visakhapatnam, India. As part of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced geospatial applications, tools, and services. Your role will focus on crafting dependable GIS solutions through Java, Spring Boot framework, web technologies, and spatial database management to enable the organization to use location data effectively for improved decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain GIS-powered web applications, interactive mapping tools, and web services.
- Create and integrate RESTful APIs, develop microservices, and backend modules utilizing Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
- Develop front-end functionalities incorporating HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and leverage the ArcGIS JavaScript API.
- Manage geospatial data by working with spatial databases like Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, or MongoDB, including querying and storage.
- Integrate geospatial features and mappings through libraries such as Leaflet, Mapbox, or OpenLayers.
- Customize and work with Esri ArcGIS software products including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Online.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplined teams including GIS Analysts, IT personnel, and engineers to deliver scalable GIS solutions.
- Implement version control and uphold code quality standards using SVN and Git.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working professionally as a GIS Developer.
- Strong programming capabilities in Java, including understanding of data structures and design patterns.
- Proficient in the ArcGIS JavaScript API for building interactive web applications.
- Experience working with spatial and relational databases such as Oracle Spatial, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and MySQL.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS.
- Ability to build responsive and user-interactive web applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holding an Esri Technical Certification or GISP credential.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS JavaScript API implementations.
- Familiarity with deploying GIS solutions in enterprise and cloud environments.
