About the Role
McCain Foods in Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick, is recruiting full-time General Labourers for its Prepared Foods facility. This physically intensive position supports production operations, food safety, quality control, sanitation, and equipment efficiency within a dynamic manufacturing setting. The position involves 12-hour rotating shifts from Monday to Friday, alternating two weeks on days with two weeks on nights. Selected candidates will undergo a 90-day training program.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols including Job Hazard Analyses and safe work practices while actively engaging in the STEP behavioral safety initiative.
- Interpret production formulas accurately to weigh, mix, and blend ingredients as per defined recipes.
- Conduct cleaning and sanitation to maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
- Identify, communicate product quality issues, and uphold food safety standards.
- Operate machinery relevant to assigned production tasks.
- Precisely record ingredient details, temperatures, and product tracking information.
- Manage ingredient scheduling and production workflows to ensure smooth shift completions and changeovers.
- Follow established procedures for equipment changeovers and production operations.
- Troubleshoot and adjust equipment performance when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Critical Control Point (CCP) requirements.
- Support company performance metrics through awareness of KPIs and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with team members and serve as a key resource in designated areas as needed.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Minimum completion of Grade 12 or equivalent GED.
- Willingness and ability to work rotating day and night shifts.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or food production is advantageous.
- Basic computer literacy is preferred.
- Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
- Physically able to walk, stand, bend regularly, and lift between 35 to 40 pounds consistently.
- Flexibility to learn and perform various roles throughout the facility.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to handle unexpected situations calmly.
- Proficiency in basic math to complete production documentation accurately.
- Adaptability to evolving operational demands.

Compensation: Starting wage is 21.49 CAD per hour with bonus eligibility and shift differentials where applicable. Final pay is determined based on experience, skills, education, and organizational needs.
