General Labor/Maintenance Full-Time Position

About the Role

SSC Services for Education is seeking full-time General Labor/Maintenance workers to support the upkeep and smooth operation of facilities within Richland School District 2 located in Columbia, SC. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks that ensure a clean, safe, and functional educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver detailed and attentive customer service in facility maintenance.
• Clean, polish, and maintain furniture and fixtures.
• Conduct minor repairs on doors, fixtures, and furniture items.
• Monitor and record data from meters and gauges to confirm proper operation.
• Perform adjustments and minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and ventilation systems.
• Replace HVAC air filters regularly to maintain air quality.
• Ensure building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking appliances to avoid hazards.
• Manually or with equipment move heavy furniture, tools, and supplies as needed.
• Maintain landscaping by mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, and clearing debris using appropriate tools.
• Report requirements for major repairs or additions to building systems to managers.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas during winter.
• Setup and removal of event-related infrastructure such as tables, chairs, decorations, ladders, and scaffolding.
• Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, waste removal, and restroom servicing.
• Operate vehicles necessary to complete maintenance duties.
• Carry out additional assigned duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous maintenance experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license may be required.

Schedule and Location

This position offers a full-time schedule Monday through Friday, with hours subject to variation. The primary work site is at 763 Fashion Drive, Columbia, SC 29229, with opportunities available at other locations within the school district.
