Job description
Overview
The General Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the hotel's accounting functions by ensuring precise financial recordkeeping, aiding in financial reporting, and upholding compliance with established accounting principles and internal control measures. This position helps maintain the accuracy and dependability of financial data to underpin effective financial oversight and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed and accurate accounting records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Support the completion of month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and investigating any discrepancies.
- Record journal entries, including accruals and prepayments, accurately and promptly.
- Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness continually.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal control measures, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with both internal and external audit requirements as necessary.
- Verify accuracy and correct categorization of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) postings.
- Facilitate payment processing and thorough verification of invoices.
- Help resolve discrepancies and follow up on outstanding account balances.
- Assist in preparing budgets and performing periodic financial forecasting exercises.
- Generate variance analysis reports comparing actual figures against budgeted amounts.
- Provide key financial data and insights to aid management’s decision-making processes.
- Support VAT filing, meet statutory submission deadlines, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for audit and inspection purposes.
- Enter data accurately and optimize the use of financial management systems.
- Participate in process enhancement and standardization initiatives to improve efficiency.
- Conduct all operations with a focus on safety and environmental responsibility prioritizing the health and safety of guests, colleagues, and environmental conservation.
- Adhere strictly to hotel environmental, health, and safety protocols and policies.
