The Pet Valu family, comprising brands such as Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet, represents one of North America's largest retail networks dedicated to pet food and supplies for a diverse range of animals including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. As advocates and experts in pet care, Pet Valu Keyholders play a vital role in delivering exceptional store performance and customer experiences. This includes offering knowledgeable advice on products and services that promote pets' health and happiness while sharing responsibility for driving profitability and operational excellence. Keyholders assist with all facets of store management and serve as community representatives for their outlets. Key Responsibilities
- Operate as cashier and complete customer sales transactions.
- Manage merchandise order preparation, banking, and assorted paperwork.
- Stock small items under 10 lbs including pet supplies and household products on the sales floor.
- Maintain store cleanliness through sweeping, dusting, and upkeep tasks.
- Help unload deliveries containing cases and bags up to 50 lbs and organize them into inventory.
- Open and close the store properly while adhering to company protocols.
- Assume leadership by assigning daily objectives and tasks to Assistant Customer Experts (ACEs) if managers are unavailable.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support store operations.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum two years’ experience in retail or direct customer service roles.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Friendly and outgoing demeanor combined with excellent customer service aptitude.
- Physical capability to repeatedly lift weights of up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to the store.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required.
