About Hot Topic and Role Overview
Hot Topic is driven by a love for music, pop culture, and delivering exceptional in-store experiences for both customers and team members. We're looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to join the team at our busiest location, helping lead the store to success by supporting the Store Manager in reaching sales goals, building a passionate team, and enhancing customer connections.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in meeting sales plans and comparable sales targets.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a dedicated, cooperative team to effectively operate the store.
- Act as the biggest advocate for the store, generating excitement and engaging customers through new product launches, social media interaction, and services like buy online pick up in store (BOPIS) and curbside pickup.
- Manage daily operations with a balance of delegation and hands-on leadership, ensuring a customer-first sales approach.
- Monitor and control shrinkage, loss prevention, payroll management, and employee scheduling.
- Coordinate communications with retail leaders and headquarters to relay trends and customer feedback.
- Analyze sales reports and data to inform strategies aimed at achieving sales objectives.
- Merchandise the store attractively, follow planograms, and timely execute promotional events.
- Partner with the Store Manager to develop and maintain a high-performing, customer-focused team.
Qualifications and Skills Needed
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience managing retail store operations, with a passion for music and pop culture being advantageous.
- Proven leadership abilities including team development, communication, recruitment, and operational expertise such as payroll, reporting, and scheduling.
- Strong communication skills, excellent time management, professionalism, and dedication to employee growth.
- High school diploma or GED required; higher education is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to the fast-paced, dynamically changing retail environment.
- Physical capability to move around the store, handle merchandise, including lifting boxes up to 50 pounds, and use necessary store equipment, optionally with reasonable accommodations.
