Job description
Role Overview
Based in Singapore with remote work options for candidates in Vietnam or Indonesia, this position demands complete responsibility for both production applications and AWS infrastructure. Key areas include maintaining a React SPA, the Django/Channels backend with real-time WebSocket support, an accompanying Node/Express CommonDB service, and managing AWS cloud and DevOps processes. The role involves moving the current founder-managed system with AI tooling into a structured environment governed by version control, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain the React (CRA) single-page application, including its code splitting, geospatial maps using OpenLayers, and CAD/BIM viewer integrations like Sketchfab and Autodesk APS/Forge.
- Develop and improve the Django backend and its Django Channels/ASGI layer supporting live WebSocket features served via Daphne and Nginx.
- Handle asynchronous job processing with Celery, Celery Beat, and Flower for scheduled and background tasks.
- Maintain the Node/Express CommonDB API service and manage external integrations such as Autodesk APS/Forge, Stripe, and Google Maps.
- Manage and enhance AWS infrastructure in the Southeast Asia region (EC2, ALB, CloudFront/OAC, S3, ACM, Route 53), transitioning manual deployments into automated pipelines.
- Implement source code management—including importing repositories into Git and establishing effective branching and version control workflows.
Technical Environment
- Frontend technologies: React (Create React App), OpenLayers, Sketchfab, Autodesk Platform Services (APS/Forge), Chart.js, Bootstrap 4, Font Awesome, animate.css, toastr, jQuery, Stripe.js, Google Maps, Google Analytics, and multi-language support including English, Malay, Indonesian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
- Backend technologies: Django with Channels (ASGI), Daphne, Nginx, Django REST Framework, Django admin panel.
- Async and job handling: Celery, Celery Beat, Flower with Redis/ElastiCache as broker.
- Supporting services: Node.js/Express CommonDB service, Autodesk APS/Forge OAuth.
- AWS services: EC2, EBS, VPC, security groups, Application Load Balancer, ACM, CloudFront with OAC and functions, S3, Route 53.
- DevOps and tooling: Git, AWS CloudShell, AWS Budgets & Cost Anomaly Detection, S3 Intelligent-Tiering, GitHub Actions/OIDC, Terraform, CloudFormation.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Proficiency in React including experience with Create React App projects involving code splitting and hashed asset build.
- Strong background in Python and Django development, familiarity with Django Channels, ASGI, and WebSocket technologies beneficial.
- Solid operational knowledge of core AWS offerings such as EC2, S3, CloudFront, ALB, ACM, IAM, VPC, and Route 53.
- Experience with Git and adherence to branching and version control practices.
- Security-conscious approach in frontend development, including removing exposed secrets, addressing mixed content, and excluding source maps in production.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience with Autodesk Platform Services / Forge and handling CAD/BIM formats like Revit, Navisworks, Inventor.
- Background in 3D/WebGL development, especially with three.js.
- Familiarity with asynchronous job orchestration tools like Celery, Celery Beat, and Flower.
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines design, with emphasis on GitHub Actions and OIDC.
- Payment gateway integration experience, particularly Stripe.
- Knowledge of geospatial mapping technologies and large-scale multilingual internationalization.
- Node.js and Express usage proficiency.
- Containerization skills, including Docker.
- Experience with AWS Cognito and AWS cost management tools.
