About the Opportunity
We are searching for a dedicated Fleet Controller to join a well-established transport and logistics company in Port Melbourne. This full-time position operates Monday to Friday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. The role focuses on coordinating daily fleet and container movements, managing driver allocation, and ensuring smooth and timely container transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and oversee daily fleet and container transports
- Assign jobs and manage drivers' schedules in real time
- Coordinate import and export container logistics
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, depots, and operational teams
- Monitor deliveries, pickups, and container movements during shifts
- Address delays, changes, and operational challenges promptly
- Ensure all transport jobs are completed efficiently and within deadlines
- Keep accurate records and update transport management systems accordingly
- Comply with transport regulations, Chain of Responsibility requirements, and company policies
- Collaborate closely with the broader operations team to maintain high service standards
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in fleet control, allocation, or transport operations
- Strong preference for candidates with container transport knowledge
- Experience in wharf cartage, import/export container handling, or port operations is advantageous
- Comprehensive understanding of Melbourne's transport network and port facilities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities
- Comfortable engaging with drivers and customers confidently
- Ability to make quick and effective operational decisions under pressure
- Proficient with transport management software and computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Capable of maintaining composure and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to working collaboratively within a team
