Job description
Position Overview
We are expanding our service team and seeking a Field Service Engineer responsible for installation, validation, servicing, and repair of STERIS medical equipment throughout New Zealand. This role involves providing user training, troubleshooting support, and aiding in spare parts inventory management under the guidance of the Service Manager or Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and execute technical service operations for STERIS equipment.
- Carry out equipment installations, preventive maintenance, validations, and repairs on assigned products at customer sites.
- Engage with customers through visits, phone, and email to offer high-quality product support.
- Conduct in-service training sessions and assist with clinical product trials demonstrating system applications, accessories, and techniques.
- Deliver application, user, and technical training.
- File product complaints in compliance with company policies.
- Assist in managing spare parts inventories across product lines.
- Identify training needs and propose recommendations accordingly.
- Maintain records of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Update and maintain internal procedural documentation.
- Track and document equipment and spare parts movement, repair status, and maintain associated databases.
- Provide exceptional customer after-sales support.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Trades Certificate, Engineering Certificate, or Diploma with robust hands-on technical service experience in medical equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, overhauling, or refurbishing standard and specialized equipment and components.
- Registration as an Electrical Service Technician (EST).
- Valid driver's license with personal vehicle ownership (car allowance provided).
- Willingness and ability to travel across New Zealand, including occasional international trips.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity needed for handling tools and equipment.
- Customer-focused approach.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with computers, including intermediate knowledge of DOS and Windows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
