Job description
Overview
The Facility Maintenance Technician is tasked with performing maintenance, repairs, routine and on-demand services on general non-technical facility elements, such as walls, floors, and painting. This role requires adherence to established procedures and compliance with internal and external regulations including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out work following company processes and standards.
- Ensure full compliance with all safety, environmental, fire protection, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform regular monitoring and inspections of the facility and its non-technical components.
- Identify and report facility conditions and defects, recommending improvements and repairs.
- Conduct facility walkthroughs and respond to routine and immediate service requests.
- Execute preventative maintenance and repairs on non-technical facility elements.
- Document maintenance actions and update the service maintenance management database accordingly.
- Track the progress of maintenance and repair tasks, securing necessary approvals for work.
- Support the preventative maintenance program by identifying, documenting, and escalating deficiencies.
- Participate in facility-related projects as needed.
- Maintain all assigned tools, ensuring timely repairs or replacements.
- Submit expense reports promptly.
- Enhance tenant and customer satisfaction through professional work and service delivery.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Work Requirements
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- 1-3 years of experience in facility operations and maintenance.
- Trade-related training is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
- Familiarity with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing non-technical facility elements.
- Capability to assess facility conditions and recommend repairs or improvements.
- Willingness to learn and apply fire, life safety, and building codes effectively on the job.
- Strong focus on environmental, health and safety practices with the ability to perform work safely.
- Excellent client-service mindset combined with a strong sense of urgency.
- Effective communication skills essential for exchanging information, obtaining feedback, and clarifying issues.
Compensation
This is a full-time, regular position offering an hourly wage between $35 and $38, dependent on qualifications such as experience, education, and demonstrated performance.
