Facilities Technician - Utilities Operations

About the Role

We are recruiting two Utilities Technicians to join a dynamic team at a cutting-edge brewery facility in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. This advanced manufacturing site uses state-of-the-art technologies and recently began full-scale production, with ambitions to expand operations significantly. The role centers on overseeing and enhancing the brewery's utilities infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and uphold a robust safety culture aligned with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Compliance standards.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and optimize various utilities systems to achieve maximum performance and reliability.
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety, environmental regulations, water discharge permits, and ISO certifications.
• Drive operational excellence through equipment condition monitoring, autonomous maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring key performance indicators.
• Leverage digital tools and data analysis to identify inefficiencies and enhance plant performance.
• Engage actively in continuous improvement programs including Kaizen events, Root Cause Analyses, and A3 problem-solving techniques.
• Contribute to commissioning, start-up, validation, and ongoing daily operations of utilities equipment.
• Maintain comprehensive operational documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance records, and training content.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Brewing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and external contractors to meet site performance goals.
• Support sustainability initiatives focusing on energy efficiency and resource optimization projects.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Technical certification or degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Brewing, Science, Utilities Operations, or related fields.
• At least 2 years of practical experience in a manufacturing or process-driven setting, including utilities, brewing, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or chemical industries.
• Sound technical understanding of utilities infrastructure including water treatment, wastewater treatment, boiler and steam generation, refrigeration, hot water systems, HVAC, compressed air, and process gas systems.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and fault-finding skills within process equipment and utility assets.
• Awareness and knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience operating water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Trade qualifications with expertise in utilities or plant processes.
• Industry background in brewing, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with digital manufacturing platforms such as SCADA, SAP, MES, Zaptic, CMMS, or Manufacturing Excellence (ManEx) systems.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Additional Information

• Working shifts on a 24/7 rotating schedule is mandatory.
• Commuting to Newbridge, Co. Kildare is required.
