Job description
About MYP and the Role
MYP Corporation, a division of System C Australia, focuses on enhancing lives by empowering individuals with time, control, and choice. They develop software tailored for providers in the NDIS and In-Home Aged Care sectors, simplifying complex operational challenges so providers can dedicate more effort to their core mission of helping people. Currently in a growth phase, MYP is scaling existing products and advancing their "Most Loved Product" vision. This role centers on placing users and their real needs at the core of product decisions.
They seek an experienced Product Manager to join their Product Team full-time at their South Brisbane location, directly reporting to the Director of Product ANZ. This hands-on individual contributor role involves partnering with senior product staff to balance customer expectations, business priorities, and technical constraints to deliver pragmatic value.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the entire product lifecycle from problem discovery, defining solutions, development, delivery, to outcome measurement and strategic decision-making including pivot or continuation.
- Collaborate closely with R&D to prioritize initiatives, identify risks early, and find practical alternatives when ideal solutions are unfeasible due to constraints like time and resources.
- Engage deeply with customers and research teams to understand workflows, pain points, and core jobs-to-be-done within Disability and In-Home Aged Care.
- Mentor two Product Managers in areas of discovery, prioritization, commercial insight, and delivery practices, exemplifying leadership by active involvement.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven autonomous product management experience identifying customer value, evaluating business risks, exploring solutions, and driving outcomes beyond backlog management.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance exploring new opportunities and enhancing established products.
- Capable of toggling between strategic overviews and detailed execution, ensuring shipped solutions effectively address user needs.
- Demonstrates relentless curiosity and empathy to deeply understand and question user problems beyond surface-level answers.
- Experienced in cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and customer teams to align on vision, trade-offs, and risks.
- Skilled at managing competing priorities with clear communication to stakeholders.
- Adept at dissecting complex problems and facilitating consensus on the true issues at hand.
- Comfortable making decisions amid imperfect information and iterating based on feedback and results.
- Curious about existing workflows and processes, challenging the status quo constructively.
- Confident in questioning assumptions and supporting decisions with data, logic, and evidence.
This position is best suited for someone genuinely interested in the Community sector, particularly NDIS and Aged Care. Requirements include adaptability to shifting regulations and priorities, and proven independent product management experience. This role expects initiative in roadmap creation and embraces workplace humor (including Dad jokes).
First Year Expectations
- Begin by learning platform intricacies, customer dynamics, and sector-specific knowledge alongside existing Product Managers.
- Deepen understanding of customers' core jobs-to-be-done and prioritize workflow enhancements aligned with the Most Loved Product vision.
- Evaluate and propose improvements to current processes, communication, and ways of working once sufficient context is gained.
- Gradually take ownership and accountability for transforming product vision into actionable roadmap items with clear measurement and impact.
- Aim to enhance both the product and team dynamics within the first year.
Employee Benefits
- Competitive remuneration package plus superannuation, aligned with skills and experience.
- Flexible hybrid working environment.
- Workspace located in a vibrant South Brisbane office.
- Regular team lunches fostering camaraderie.
- Casual dress code.
- Social committee organizing extracurricular activities.
- Opportunities to attend sector-relevant industry events.
- One Volunteer Leave day annually.
- Continuous professional development spanning product expertise, technology, and sector knowledge.
- A lighthearted workplace environment includes frequent Dad jokes.
Recruitment Process
Candidates must have unrestricted rights to live and work in Australia. The application includes providing an email and salary expectations before submission of CV and cover letter. The selection process consists of:
- First round: Informal 30-minute discussion with senior product members focusing on experience, aspirations, and mutual fit with some light banter.
- Second round: Formal one-hour interview including a 15-minute pre-screening exercise centered on problem-solving, stakeholder interaction, ambiguity management, prioritization, and decision-making.
- Final round: 30-minute culture fit conversation with senior leadership. Candidates may be asked to complete a take-home exercise demonstrating problem approach, prioritization, trade-offs, and success measurement.
Applications are reviewed continuously, encouraging interested candidates to apply promptly.
