Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Exams Officer to join a dynamic education organisation based in Canterbury, Kent. This permanent full-time position offers a salary between a330,000 and a335,000. The role involves overseeing the end-to-end examination process within an environment focused on alternative provision, specialist education, SEND services, and tutoring programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete examination cycle annually, including GCSEs, vocational qualifications, mock tests, and other external assessments.
- Coordinate entries for candidates, including any alterations and withdrawals, as well as setting timetables.
- Ensure strict adherence to JCQ rules and requirements set by awarding bodies.
- Prepare examination materials, allocate rooms, and oversee procedures during exam days.
- Safeguard examination papers through secure storage and controlled handling.
- Recruit, train, and supervise invigilators effectively.
- Collaborate with SEND teams and educational staff to facilitate access arrangements.
- Manage the logistics of results days and post-results services.
- Serve as the primary contact for examination boards and awarding organisations.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records, compliance documentation, and reporting.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in an Exams Officer or similar education administration role.
- Highly organised with excellent planning and time management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail ensuring accuracy in all tasks.
- Capable of juggling multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage various stakeholders.
- Competent in IT, including Microsoft Office suite and relevant education software.
- Knowledgeable about confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection best practices.
Desirable Attributes
- Familiarity with JCQ examination regulations and procedures.
- Experience managing invigilator teams or similar staffing coordination.
- Background supporting students requiring SEND and access accommodations.
- Previous work within educational settings such as schools, colleges, or alternative provision establishments.
