Job description
Overview
Our client, based in Leicestershire, is seeking to fill a key role in their projects team for an Estimator. The main objective of this role is to secure contracts at commercially viable levels aligning with the organisation's future workload. The candidate will be responsible for preparing tender submissions based on drawings, proposals, specifications, and other relevant documents. They must accurately identify and estimate costs related to materials, labor, and manufacturing expenses, formatting these according to the standards set in the Project Files spreadsheet.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct initial review of tender documents to verify client details, scope, and timelines, ensuring they align with future workload planning.
- Perform detailed evaluations of tender materials and notify management promptly regarding any required supporting information or deliverables to prepare accurate submissions.
- Determine and calculate costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing, presenting clear, comprehensive pricing so it is understandable to clients and internal staff alike.
- Obtain external quotes for materials and goods within sufficient timeframes to ensure tender prices remain commercially viable; collaborate with colleagues and management if quotes are unavailable or delayed to decide tender pricing.
- Compile tender packages with all necessary components including qualifications, draft programmes, and tender letters, ensuring timely submission for review before issuance to clients or contractors.
- Review tenders thoroughly with colleagues or supervisors to ensure accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Present tenders to clients using formats compliant with client expectations and supply all mandatory supporting documentation.
- Complete and hand over a Project File to the Contracts Manager post-tender submission and provide ongoing assistance as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies.
- Comply fully with company policies related to sustainability, equal opportunities, health and safety, and environmental standards.
- Adhere to guidelines stipulated in the Employees Handbook.
- Perform additional duties appropriate to the role's level and responsibilities as required.
