Role Overview
A reputable civil engineering contracting company located in the Scunthorpe area is seeking an Estimator. This position suits candidates with a background in civil engineering, particularly those experienced with formwork, rebar, concrete, and groundwork tasks. Expertise in projects such as roads, drainage, concrete works, piling, marine developments, beach recycling and nourishment, timber groyne construction, rock groyne and revetment installations, sea wall construction, and coastal protection initiatives is highly desirable.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Keep track of relevant portals to identify tender opportunities promptly.
- Download Invitations to Tender and organize them systematically in designated tender folders.
- Prepare comprehensive tender proposals including preliminary method statements, safety plans, and project schedules when necessary.
- Conduct site visits related to tenders as required to gather first-hand information.
- Issue enquiries to sub-contractors to obtain bids for specific tender items when applicable.
- Collaborate with the Buyers, Plant Department, and Accounts team to finalize material, equipment, and labor costs for tenders.
- Participate in tender adjudication meetings alongside the Commercial Team.
- Submit finalized tender bids to clients or through designated portals.
- Complete Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) as needed to support bid submissions.
- Update information related to client Framework agreements when requested.
- Attend internal handover meetings to transfer details from the Estimator to the Site Team once tenders are successful.
