Estimating Manager

Role Overview

ConsultANZ is seeking a highly experienced Estimating Manager to join a prominent civil contractor based in Auckland, New Zealand. This senior position involves overseeing estimating activities for substantial civil infrastructure projects, ensuring that cost projections are precise, competitive, and commercially sound. The role also involves contributing to bid strategy formulation and assisting in critical decisions during tender processes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the entire estimating process for large civil infrastructure tenders, from initiation to completion.
• Prepare and validate cost estimates to guarantee accuracy and maintain competitiveness.
• Manage and provide guidance to the estimating team members.
• Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to collect pricing data and assemble comprehensive estimates.
• Support the development of bid strategies and pricing plans for tenders.
• Analyze contract terms, assess risk factors, and ensure compliance with tender requirements.
• Assist with the smooth transition of projects to delivery teams following successful tenders.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in estimating for civil infrastructure projects.
• At least 10 years of practical experience working within the New Zealand construction sector.
• A minimum of 5 years serving as a senior or lead estimator on significant projects.
• Established strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors in the industry.
• Expert-level proficiency in using Candy estimating software.
• Sharp commercial acumen with extensive knowledge of pricing strategies, contracts, and risk management.
