Role Overview

Joining embecta's Engineering team, you will be integral to sustaining the reliability and effectiveness of advanced automated manufacturing equipment that produces vital medical products. This position is ideal for a skilled technician enthusiastic about advanced automation, continuous enhancement practices, and preventative maintenance in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on cutting-edge automated assembly and manufacturing machinery.
  • Proactively detect potential equipment issues to prevent production setbacks.
  • Collaborate with the Reliability Engineering team to maintain and optimize PM plans, task lists, and SAP CMMS work orders.
  • Review and improve maintenance activities to boost uptime, efficiency, and equipment dependability.
  • Assist in scheduling, issuing, and closing work orders as part of maintenance planning.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and maintenance departments to minimize operations disruption during maintenance work.
  • Support new equipment introduction including validation, qualification, acceptance testing, and maintenance program implementation.
  • Analyze machinery-related quality concerns and aid in root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with equipment vendors, contractors, and service suppliers to meet operational needs.
  • Engage in Lean, TPM, Continuous Improvement, and equipment optimization initiatives onsite.
  • Help train and develop fellow technicians, apprentices, and new employees.
  • Ensure thorough maintenance documentation and record-keeping aligning with engineering and quality standards.
  • Promote and uphold rigorous safety standards for equipment and workspaces.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification such as National Craft Certificate, Mechanical Fitter, Engineering Technician, or equivalent engineering credentials.
  • At least three years of manufacturing experience, preferably in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, food production, or similarly regulated sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with automated production equipment.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical systems, with some knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and automation controls.
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance and CMMS software including SAP.
  • Analytical mindset with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and root cause problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with Reliability Engineering, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Experience assisting in equipment validation, commissioning, and qualification processes.
  • Versatility in mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.
