Position Overview – Engineering Operations Leader
We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Engineering Operations Leader to partner closely with the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Engineering. This role acts as the SVP’s operational proxy and chief of staff, driving organizational effectiveness, governance, and seamless collaboration across the engineering division.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as a trusted strategic partner to the SVP Engineering, advising on key operational and organizational priorities and representing the SVP in internal discussions and decision-making forums.
- Translate engineering strategies into clear, actionable plans with defined milestones, ownership, governance, and measurable outcomes.
- Build and implement scalable operational rhythms such as planning cadences, governance review processes, and leadership dashboards to enhance operational maturity.
- Drive complex cross-functional projects involving teams from product, QA, infrastructure, customer success, and business stakeholders, ensuring governance, accountability, and alignment.
- Promote leadership effectiveness by supporting planning, communication, coordination, and management of leadership forums and reviews with executive-ready insights and dashboards.
- Coordinate transparently with multiple functions including operations, finance, HR, delivery, and sales to maintain alignment and smooth stakeholder communications.
- Leverage operational KPIs, dashboards, and analytics to foster data-driven decision-making, organizational transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Support organizational scaling through operational alignment, new governance model implementation, and facilitation of engineering culture and process enhancement initiatives.
- Serve as a pivotal communication hub ensuring structured, clear, and timely information flow within engineering and cross-functional teams.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Proven expertise in operational excellence, governance, and program management within large engineering or tech environments.
- Extensive understanding of engineering operating models, agile frameworks, software development lifecycles, and organizational scaling dynamics.
- Strong strategic insight combined with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to synthesize complex information into actionable strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills and executive presence for engaging diverse stakeholders and crafting leadership presentations and reports.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities to build trust, drive accountability, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous settings.
- Solid familiarity with SaaS, AI/ML products, cloud ecosystems, engineering productivity measures, and quality management frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Business Management or related discipline; MBA or equivalent is preferred.
- Over 10 years’ experience in engineering operations, strategic program management, or similar roles, ideally within high-growth SaaS or AI/ML-focused organizations.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in using collaboration and productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, spreadsheets, dashboards, and presentation software.
- Experience handling confidential leadership level information with maturity and discretion.
- A strong ownership attitude emphasizing execution excellence, operational impact, and continuous process improvement.
