Engineering Manager

About the Role

This position is for an Engineering Manager to lead a skilled engineering team within a fully remote and globally distributed environment based in Saudi Arabia. The role combines technical expertise with leadership to support engineers in delivering valuable products to users.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support an engineering team to produce high-quality features and impactful user improvements.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Customer Success teams to balance feature development, technical investment, maintenance, and bug resolution aligned with the product roadmap.
• Coach engineers and facilitate their professional growth in a flexible environment with limited formal structure and no defined career ladders.
• Identify and remove barriers to execution, while continuously enhancing team processes, communication, and development practices to improve delivery speed.
• Analyze project challenges by evaluating people, processes, scope, dependencies, and risks to make informed adjustments.
• Stay technically engaged by reviewing code, technical designs, and product proposals to mitigate risks and refine engineering outcomes.
• Break down complex initiatives into smaller, manageable components to reduce risk, enable feedback, and allow flexibility in planning.
• Recruit, onboard, and nurture skilled individual contributors and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
• Use technical knowledge and product understanding to inform project prioritization, execution, and delivery decisions.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of two years' experience managing engineering teams or equivalent experience showing the ability to lead, develop, and build teams.
• Strong foundation in software engineering with technical expertise in the Clojure ecosystem or frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
• Capability to fluently read and comprehend code and technical documentation, actively participating in technical discussions.
• Sound product judgment including evaluating product designs, translating requirements into engineering solutions, and assessing technical and delivery risks.
• Proven skill in diagnosing project issues and adjusting people, processes, scope, or implementation as needed.
• Excellent problem decomposition abilities, breaking down complex tasks into smaller, lower-risk increments and adapting plans based on feedback.
• Track record of removing obstacles to help teams deliver high-quality software consistently.
• Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, especially in flat organizational structures without formal career ladders.
• Outstanding communication skills, particularly written communication suited for asynchronous collaboration.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams, managing priorities independently with a focus on outcomes.
• Technical curiosity, sound judgment, and commitment to delivering meaningful long-term user value.
