Electrical Maintenance Technician Assistant

Magnaplast Technologies Pvt. Ltd., situated in Bhosari, Pune, Maharashtra, specializes in manufacturing and engineering operations. The company is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join their Maintenance/Engineering department.

Role Summary

The role involves handling preventive, predictive, and emergency electrical maintenance activities for production machinery, electrical systems, control panels, and plant utilities. The technician ensures equipment availability, reduces machine downtime, and upholds safe and dependable electrical operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair faults in 3-phase motors, starters, contactors, relays, miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), moulded case circuit breakers (MCCBs), transformers, and electrical circuits.
• Troubleshoot programmable logic controller (PLC) controlled machines and associated sensors like proximity and limit switches.
• Maintain and service variable frequency drives (VFDs), AC drives, and motor control systems.
• Perform electrical wiring, cable terminations, panel modifications, and equipment component replacements.
• Monitor electrical parameters such as voltage, current, insulation resistance, and continuity using relevant instruments.
• Ensure proper earthing and maintain electrical safety standards.
• Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to reduce production downtime.
• Execute preventive maintenance schedules and maintain accurate records.
• Identify and address recurring electrical issues with corrective measures.
• Collaborate with Production, Mechanical Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams during maintenance and breakdown events.
• Manage inventory of electrical spares and coordinate with stores for procurement needs.
• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), safety protocols, and company-maintained standards.
• Support installation, commissioning, modification, and improvements relating to electrical equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and 5S workplace organization standards within maintenance areas.

Desired Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of industrial electrical maintenance procedures.
• Expertise with direct-on-line (DOL) and star-delta motor starters.
• Knowledge of AC motors and their protection mechanisms.
• Familiarity with basic PLC troubleshooting and identification of input/output modules.
• Experience with troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motor drives.
• Understanding of industrial sensors and control components.
• Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and control panel blueprints.
• Proficient use of electrical testing tools including multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers (meggers).
• Basic knowledge of pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems is beneficial.
• Awareness of 5S, total productive maintenance (TPM), and preventive maintenance concepts is preferred.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

• Completed ITI Electrician or Electrical certification, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred candidates have 2 to 5 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
• Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or engineering sectors is advantageous.
