Job description
Position Overview
Talentspring Staffing seeks an accomplished Electrical Design Manager to spearhead the electrical design team dedicated to pharmaceutical and biotech facility projects. The ideal candidate is an engineering expert skilled in electrical systems design and has the capability to coordinate multidisciplinary projects effectively. This role involves overseeing the delivery of robust electrical designs from initial concepts to detailed engineering and site commissioning in pharma/biotech manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and manage the electrical design activities from concept to detailed engineering stages for pharmaceutical and biotech facilities.
- Create, review, and authorize single-line diagrams, load lists, and complete system designs.
- Prepare detailed electrical documents such as cable schedules, lighting plans, earthing layouts, technical specifications, and Bills of Quantities.
- Ensure all designs adhere strictly to pharmaceutical industry standards, GMP guidelines, and applicable electrical codes including IEC, NEC, and local standards.
- Maintain high-quality and consistent design standards across all deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with HVAC, process, civil/structural, and cleanroom design teams to coordinate electrical systems.
- Assess technical proposals from electrical equipment vendors and contractors.
- Provide technical support on-site during equipment installation and system testing phases.
- Approve vendor drawings and technical documentation at project sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical design and engineering roles.
- A minimum of 3 years specifically working on pharmaceutical or biotech facility projects.
- Proficient in preparing single-line diagrams, performing load calculations, creating cable schedules, and designing electrical layouts.
- Strong familiarity with GMP standards and pharmaceutical industry regulations.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with electrical design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Expertise in single-line diagram creation and power system analysis.
- Capabilities in load calculations and sizing electrical components.
- Skilled in cable scheduling and routing techniques.
- Knowledge of lighting design including photometric analyses and compliance.
- Designing earthing and grounding systems for safety.
- Experience with power distribution and switchboard design.
- Understanding of electrical safety systems and protection coordination.
