Job description

Role Overview

As a vital part of our pharmacy team within the store, the Dispenser supports pharmacists and healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective pharmacy and healthcare services. You will engage closely with patients, assisting with prescription processing, medication sales, and offering informed advice to support their health and wellbeing.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispensing prescriptions ensuring the safe supply of medicine, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handling prescription collection.
  • Collaborating with healthcare staff in the store to help manage and deliver pharmacy services smoothly.
  • Providing patients with medicine-related care and guidance, referring complex queries to the pharmacist when appropriate.
  • Adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for safe, legal prescription dispensing.
  • Staying current with in-store innovations and following operational protocols.
  • Supporting patients in managing their prescriptions and medication adherence to reduce waste and promote effective treatment.
  • Leveraging evolving store technologies to enhance the dispensing process, improve patient safety, and increase patient interaction time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2 or its equivalent, or be progressing with the first year of an MPharm degree.
  • Valid UK right to work is mandatory; please note this role does not support Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
  • Previous experience in community pharmacy is advantageous but not required.
