Job description
About the Role
As a Dispenser in one of our retail stores, you will be a vital part of the pharmacy team, assisting the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to ensure the effective and safe provision of pharmacy services. Your role will involve direct interaction with patients, managing prescriptions, and supporting the sale of medicines with a focus on patient care and health education.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescriptions accurately ensuring the safe supply of medicines, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Collaborate with healthcare colleagues in-store to facilitate pharmacy service delivery and management.
- Provide guidance to patients about medication use and refer any queries appropriately to the pharmacist.
- Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for lawful and safe dispensing.
- Stay informed of new store innovations and comply with established operational protocols.
- Assist patients in managing their prescriptions and medicines to optimize adherence and minimize wastage.
- Engage with new technologies and systems designed to enhance dispensing safety and patient interaction.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2 or equivalent, or progression through the first year of an MPharm degree.
- Valid UK right to work documentation; note this role does not support Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
- Preferably, experience within community pharmacy settings.
Additional Information
This position is based in-store within the UK, and candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK with relevant qualifications. Remote applications or applicants without valid UK status will not be considered. Employment includes a criminal background check appropriate to the locale (DBS, PVG, or Access NI).
