Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Director to oversee the engineering strategy, architecture, and execution of our Web and WebApps teams. This leadership role involves managing high-performing engineering teams dedicated to developing scalable, secure, and engaging consumer digital platforms leveraging modern web technologies and cloud-native solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and nurture multiple engineering teams focused on Web and WebApps, including connected TV platforms like Samsung, LG, Xbox, and Vizio.
• Develop and implement engineering strategies and technology roadmaps aligned with the digital product vision.
• Direct architectural decisions to build scalable, resilient, secure, and efficient web applications.
• Establish and promote a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Program Management, Data Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Platform teams to fulfill strategic initiatives.
• Define and enforce best practices in architecture, coding standards, testing, continuous integration/deployment, system observability, security, and accessibility.
• Manage organizational growth activities including recruitment, succession planning, and career development.
• Provide mentorship to Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers, fostering future technology leaders.
• Drive improvements in development practices, release management, operational performance, and engineering productivity.
• Balance business goals with long-term platform investments and managing technical debt reduction.
• Oversee engineering metrics, system reliability, and delivery health to guarantee successful outcomes.
• Engage with senior leadership to define technology investment priorities and engineering roadmaps.
• Advocate for modern web technologies and platform modernization efforts.
• Communicate strategy, progress, potential risks, trade-offs, and priorities effectively to executives.
• Promote an inclusive engineering culture centered on innovation, quality, and superior customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in software engineering, including over 5 years leading multiple engineering teams or departments.
• Strong background in developing and scaling enterprise-grade web applications serving millions, with expertise in smart TV and streaming platforms such as LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, or other web-based connected TV devices.
• Proficient in modern web technologies including TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue.js, Nuxt.js, REST APIs, GraphQL, and micro-frontend structures.
• Experience architecting cloud-native solutions on AWS or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Proven leadership of Engineering Managers and senior technical staff.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, system resilience, security, and performance tuning.
• Experience implementing Agile development processes and managing large engineering programs.
• Strong skills in organizational growth management including hiring, coaching, and talent development.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage stakeholders, including executive leadership.
• Business savvy with capability to align engineering priorities to broader corporate goals.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in OTT, media streaming, or digital entertainment platforms.
• Knowledge of CDN technologies, video streaming platforms, and media delivery systems.
• Familiarity with Accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO, web performance optimization, and Core Web Vitals.
• Experience with observability platforms, monitoring tools, and site reliability engineering (SRE) best practices.
• Background in leading engineering teams distributed across global locations.
• Interest or experience in AI-assisted software development and contemporary engineering productivity tools.
