Role Summary
We are seeking a Director to join our Systems Delivery and Modernization team in Christchurch. This leadership position involves steering large-scale, complex, multi-stream programs across various industries such as healthcare, public sector, and financial services. You will be integral to advancing digital transformation efforts by managing technology modernization initiatives involving multiple vendors and governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of extensive multi-stream projects covering diverse technology domains and sectors, guaranteeing alignment with business goals.
- Guide multiple project streams, ensuring adherence to governance and strategic frameworks.
- Serve as a trusted consultant to clients and internal stakeholders, shaping program delivery strategies, structure, and risk mitigation.
- Build, mentor, and motivate high-performing teams that emphasize accountability, collaboration, and continual progress.
- Effectively manage ambiguity and overcome challenges to ensure timely and successful project execution.
- Handle vendor partnerships and contractual obligations to maintain commercial alignment and quality performance.
- Engage with executive boards and steering committees to furnish transparency and reinforce confidence in delivery outcomes.
- Lead program assurance activities, including recovery plans and independent health assessments to uphold project integrity.
- Support client relationship management and contribute to opportunity development and organizational growth initiatives.
- Promote delivery excellence by leveraging global best practices, accelerators, and organizational assets.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 12 years of expertise managing large, complex technology programs.
- Extensive knowledge of delivery governance, risk management, and executive stakeholder engagement.
- Proven success leading multi-stream programs involving varied vendors and teams.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to adapt approaches depending on project context.
- Strong skills in contract negotiation, vendor oversight, and financial management.
- Excellent leadership and communication competencies with the ability to influence senior leaders and build trust.
- Background in professional services is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience in program assurance, recovery efforts, and strategic advisory roles beneficial.
