Role Overview

We are seeking an Intermediate Developer to join our Everyday Experience team, responsible for the core interfaces and workflows that customers interact with daily. This role involves maintaining high reliability, usability, and trust across key product experiences. The role spans exposure to product quality, foundational cross-platform components and customer-focused execution, making it a vital contributor to company-wide priorities.

Use of AI

We integrate AI thoughtfully across software development lifecycles to enhance productivity without compromising quality or security. Engineers employ AI tools for code reviews and bug detection, product managers synthesize user insights at scale, and designers create rapid prototypes. Our approach to AI mirrors our security philosophy, emphasizing human oversight, clear principles, and critical evaluation before deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own complex systems development from design to production support.
• Collaborate across product areas including backend services, CI/CD pipelines, and operational workflows.
• Assess and balance quality, speed, reliability, and maintainability in technical decision-making.
• Rapidly understand complex codebases and ambiguous problems.
• Participate actively with cross-functional teams like Product, Design, Security, Browser, Backend, and Infrastructure.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools responsibly, validating AI-generated code for production safety.
• Develop and maintain high-quality tests, documentation, and propose improvements.
• Contribute to planning, refinement, prioritization, and release processes.
• Support customer service teams by addressing complex issues and helping prioritize feedback.
• Continually identify and implement opportunities for process and tool improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong development experience in Rust.
• Experience building backend services using Go is advantageous.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

For Canada-based roles, the salary ranges from $111,000 to $155,000 CAD annually. Benefits include competitive health and dental plans, parental leave top-ups, generous paid time off, an equity grant, retirement matching, a free 1Password account, paid volunteer days, and peer recognition programs. US-based salaries range from $123,000 to $172,000 USD, with similar benefits.
